Is RoC Vegan and Cruelty-free? (Updated 2023)

RoC Skincare is a line of anti-aging facial care products that uses active ingredients, specifically retinol.

The brand has multiple collections, with products such as cleansers and serums.

First developed in France in 1957, RoC was brought to the United States in 1999 and is now sold at most drugstores and mass merchants such as Walgreens and Walmart.

Are RoC Skincare products Vegan?

No! RoC is not all vegan.

Meaning some of their products contain ingredients derived from animals or their by-products.

What makes a product “vegan”?

Vegan means that the products contain no animal ingredients or animal by-products. Which includes well known ingredients like honey, beeswax, gelatin, yogurt and other less obvious animal by-products like lanolin (wool grease), squalene (shark liver oil), carmine (crushed-up beetles), ambergris (whale vomit) and placenta (sheep organs).

Are RoC Skincare products Cruently-free?

No! RoC is not cruelty-free.

They may test on animals, either themselves, through their suppliers, or through a third party. Brands who fall under this category could also be selling products where animal testing is required by law.

What makes a product “cruelty-free”?

Cruelty-free means that the products, and the ingredients that were used in the product, were not tested on animals at any stage during their development.
